About Don Crowe PhD
One of California’s leading humanistic psychotherapists, Donald Crowe, PhD, has dedicated more than three decades to helping individuals, families, and groups in need of therapeutic treatment. In private practice since 1977, Dr. Donald Crowe has also served Occupational Health Services as a field clinician since 1981, working closely with police officers and firefighters enduring depression
and substance abuse. Committed to aiding underserved populations, he has volunteered his psychotherapy services to people experiencing homelessness in Berkeley, California, for nearly 25 years.
Earlier in his professional development, Dr. Donald Crowe participated in a training group for humanistic and existential psychotherapy in conjunction with James F. T. Bugental, PhD. From 1998 until 2005, he participated in TypeA personality treatment training alongside Paul Bracke, PhD. Devoted to advancing the field of psychotherapy, he has published research in journals including Psychological Reports, Representative Research in Social Psychology,and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
Donald Crowe, PhD, began his career as a teacher during his first semester ofgraduate school, when he served as an instructor for an introductory course on social psychology. Upon completing his PhD in 1975, he took a position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Coker College, located in Hartsville, SouthCarolina. During his tenure there, he taught a range of courses, including
Experimental Psychology, Statistics, Small Group Dynamics, and Psychology of Adjustment.
In 1971, Donald Crowe, PhD, completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Wake Forest University. He subsequently earned a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from North Carolina State University. Dr. Crowe later attended John F. Kennedy
University, where he engaged in two years of postdoctoral training in the field of humanistic psychotherapy.
